Hares About Town: Proud to hop on board as sponsors!

This summer, a fun public art event – Hares about Town – is coming to Southend-on-Sea, where our Head Office is located. We’re delighted to be part of it all as corporate sponsors.

After entertaining and bringing people together, the trail of giant Hare sculptures – each one individually designed by an artist – will be auctioned to raise funds for a much-loved local charity, Havens Hospices. We’re proud to support two of the best sculptures (we’re biased, of course). Gateway Group is behind a rather dapper ‘Mr Meadow’, while qualitystreet.co (also part of Gateway) is supporting a dynamic looking and upwardly mobile ‘Jet Hareplane’. Attention-grabbing to say the least.

The free, family-friendly trail of discovery with Wild in Art runs from Saturday 3 July through to September. As well as supporting a great cause, the event will bring lots of positive energy as we leap back (tentatively) from pandemic times.

Look out for the Hare sculptures if you’re local on Southend High Street, The Royals Shopping Centre (Hare Quarters), Rossi ice cream parlours, Havens Hospices shops and elsewhere across the Borough.

Home interior trends for the summer

Cosiness and comfort are in, as well as natural, earthy colours and lots of green foliage. ‘Japandi’ is a big thing too.

Bastions of interior styling, Country Living Magazine, highlight natural and earthy colours as being on-trend this summer, a trend echoed elsewhere. Nestling seems to be the thing, with round, organic shapes also proving popular, as well as houseplants, bringing the natural world into our homes. Livingetc, who spoke to designers and stylers, picks out textured walls, natural materials (such as rattan furniture) and sage green for kitchens.

Harking back to the patterns and styles of the past, and simpler times, has dominated Instagram interior posts of late. That’s called ‘Cottagecore’, a version of Granny Chic. Think velvet armchairs, full-length curtains and nostalgic touches through the use of quirky, patterned cushions and accessories. Stylists suggest bringing this look up to date with a few modern pieces of furniture and statement lighting. ‘Japandi’ is equally on-trend, a mix of refined Japanese minimalism and pure Scandinavian simplicity.

Unsurprisingly, creating more formal home working spaces has become a must-have. For the eco-conscious, cork is an environmentally friendly choice (for floors or walls), as well as snapping up second-hand and vintage furniture.
