An important message for customers in high-rise buildings. Gateway leads the way in building safety with our new reporting system
Published on 25th September 2025

Gateway is committed to ensuring the safety of all residents in the high-rise buildings we manage. As part of this commitment and in line with the UK Building Safety Act 2022, Gateway has implemented a new Mandatory Occurrence Reporting (MOR) System. This system allows residents to report ‘Safety Occurrences’, ensuring that all potential risks are addressed quickly and effectively.
Read on to find out everything you need to know about Mandatory Occurrence Reporting.
What is a Safety Occurrence?
It is important to understand what qualifies as a ‘Safety Occurrence’. This term refers to specific risks related to the structural integrity or fire safety of a building that could cause serious harm.
Examples of Safety Occurrences include:
- The spread of fire or the potential for it to spread.
- Structural defects or failures.
- Failure of critical fire safety measures like smoke detectors or fire doors.
- Total or partial collapse of the building.
If you have any doubts about whether your concern is a Safety Occurrence, please contact your Management Team.
How to report a Safety Occurrence
Residents can report a Safety Occurrence by completing the Mandatory Occurrence Notice Form on the Gateway website: gatewayplc.co.uk/monf. You can also include photos or videos to help explain the issue.
Alternatively, you can contact the Building Safety Team directly:
- Phone: 01702 443 555
- Email: buildingsafety@gatewayplc.co.uk
General repairs are a separate matter and should be reported in the usual manner, via phone at 01702 443 555 or email at customerservices@gatewayplc.co.uk.
What happens after you submit a report
Once a report is submitted, Gateway will assess it to determine if it meets the criteria for a Safety Occurrence. If it does, Gateway will submit a notice to the Building Safety Regulator and provide you with a reference number. If the report does not require a notice, Gateway will explain the reasons why.
Where can I access this reporting form later?
Each block that requires the Mandatory Occurrence Reporting System will have a notice in your communal entrance directing you to the system. Alternatively, you can access the system directly through our website.
Our commitment to safety
Gateway's proactive implementation of the new Mandatory Occurrence Reporting System reinforces our dedication to resident safety and sets a new standard for safety compliance.
We encourage all residents to actively participate in maintaining a safe living environment by utilising the Mandatory Occurrence Reporting System. By working together, we can ensure the highest standards of safety in our buildings. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Building Safety Team by phone, on 01702 443 555, or by email, buildingsafety@gatewayplc.co.uk.
